Steve has recently joined MIAA Solutions as Director of Delivery – Healthcare & Transformation to head up the newly established delivery tower which is primarily focussing on clinical service improvement and programme management.

Steve joined the NHS in 1989 as a Financial Management Trainee having graduated from the  University of Manchester with a degree in Psychology. After qualifying as an accountant in 1993, Steve worked in a number of roles in finance at the Royal Liverpool Children’s Hospital  before joining South Sefton PCT as Director of Finance in 2001. In 2006, Steve was appointed as Director of Finance & Business Services at Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust  and in 2015 became its Chief Executive.   In 2019 Steve was appointed as Chief Executive of the newly merged Liverpool University Hospitals Hospitals NHS FT which he led for 2 years until 2021.

Steve has a strong understanding of all aspects of the current NHS policy environment with significant board level experience in both acute (including specialist) hospitals and primary care/commissioning.  He is committed to improving service quality for the benefit of patients and has a strong interest in combatting the wider determinants of health which contribute to significant health inequalities across the North West. 

Steve is married with 2 children and has lived in Hoylake for the last 28 years. Outside of work he enjoys listening to music, visiting the theatre and art galleries, local & family history, cooking, travel, and walking / hiking in North Wales
