NHS England has announced the shortlist for the annual Cyber Associates Network (CAN) Awards to celebrate those working in cyber security and will also shine a light on the innovation and digital expertise that help protect patient care and data across the NHS.
MIAA’s Digital Team, who provide cyber security to a wide range of public sector and NHS clients across the northwest, have been recognised in three categories.
Digital Director, Tony Cobain is shortlisted for Cyber Leader of the Year, Catherine Watts, Senior Technology Risk Manager has been recognised in the Woman in Cyber category and Cheshire and Merseyside Cyber Security Group, which includes individuals from MIAA on its leadership team, has been shortlisted for Cyber Team of the year.
Tony Cobain said: “It’s both a surprise and an honour to have been shortlisted for this award alongside others striving to improve our collective cyber security across health and social care but the reality is that we can’t do this without the committed teams and talented individuals that we work with day in day, day out to protect our systems and data – so big thanks are due to them, they’re the real stars.”
The Cyber Associates Network is made up of 2,000 members across public-sector health and care. The network is aimed at professionals with responsibility for, or a professional interest in, cyber security and provides people with opportunities to shape and influence the cyber-security landscape, by sharing best practice, lessons and advice.
Catherine Watts, commented: “It’s a surprise and a privilege to have been shortlisted in this category. Cyber is a rewarding career for anyone, and one that I would encourage other women to embrace. I believe by encouraging diverse skills in teams, organisations such as the MIAA / the NHS become more innovative and productive for both their organisations and the clients they serve.”
The virtual awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 8th June.
