There has probably never been a more important time to invest in your own health and wellbeing and that of your staff as we emerge from a very difficult year. This masterclass is timely. It will enable leaders to learn from best practice, evidence and innovation in developing health and wellbeing strategies for themselves and their workplace.
It is a fascinating thought that employers and their workplace can have an impact on an individual's health and wellbeing as the majority of us believe that responsibility should fall on individuals yet there is a compelling case that it is in all our interests to invest in workplace health and wellbeing and to invest in a culture that promotes health. Here are some reasons why.
Sick people in organisations over 50 people cost their employer £620K per year In 2007 the Centre for Mental Health estimated that the total cost to employers of mental distress and ill health in the workplace was estimated at £26 billion each year or the equivalent of £1035 for each employee in the UK workforce.
The Department of Work and Pensions estimates that employers face a yearly bill of £9 billion for sick pay and associated costs with individuals missing out on £4 billion a year in lost earnings.
This masterclass is for you if you want to learn about what the evidence says are the best health and wellbeing strategies that work. It will help you understand how you can invest in a culture that promotes strategies for staff health and wellbeing across health, social care and local government.
At the end of the masterclass you will:
- know what works from the best available evidence
- understand what steps you can take in your own workplace to invest in health and wellbeing
